Objectives and Strategy
A new strategy
During the IATUL Seminar in December 2022 in Zurich hosted by ETH Library, we officially started preparing a new strategy. Both the IATUL Board of Directors and the workshop participants formulated many interesting expectations regarding how our activities should develop to meet our member’s expectations.
Our mission is to serve the community of academic libraries and make our voice to be heard and appreciated.
In March 2023, during our annual conference in the United Arab Emirates, we continued to work with you on formulating strategic goals through a workshop. This process to finalize the new strategy will be continued in further workshops to be held remotely.
IATUL's objectives by the end of 2020 were
- Increase IATUL membership to 300 ordinary and associated member libraries
- Establish a financially supporting framework, guaranteeing the sustainability of IATUL’s endeavours
- Consolidate the IATUL Office as the central hub of all IATUL activities
- Financially enable and coordinate at least three multinational projects, introducing new technology to library services
- Financially enable and coordinate at least three multinational projects, optimising library infrastructure and services in emerging and developing countries
- Establish three Special Interest Groups, with a core team of at least four experts in each group
- Develop a marketing portfolio for IATUL member libraries
To achieve the abovementioned objectives, IATUL endeavours to
- Maximize the potential of the various parties involved (IATUL Office, IATUL Board of Directors, IATUL SIGs, beneficiary organizations, IATUL members, partners, and others) as part of a collective approach towards raising IATUL’s profile
- Open up and cultivate new communication channels with IATUL members and potential members, established and potential donors
- Develop, test and establish a standard package of services for IATUL and non-IATUL members
- Develop a marketing portfolio for IATUL member libraries
- Develop and optimise a set of standard working processes connected with all IATUL services and activities
- Develop an innovation network of and for IATUL member libraries
